nutella cookies
July 7, 2009 at 10:14 pm | Posted in Chocolate, Cookies | 9 Commentsi was craving for something nutella sometime last week, and spreading it on bread didn’t help much. initially i thought of baking self-frosting nutella cupcakes, but i wasn’t particular feeling cake-ish, so i googled for a cookie recipe… and found this:
1 1/3 cup plain flour
2 tbsp cocoa powder
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
7 tbsp butter
2/3 cup white sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup Nutella
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
1 egg
1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
1. Preheat oven to 170C.
2. Sift flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and baking powder. Set aside.
3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in vanilla essence and Nutella. Mix in egg.
4. Add in the flour mixture. Add chocolate chips, if desired.
5. Bake 11-13 minutes.
the boy loved it; so did his couple of friends who got a taste of it. i thought the taste of the nutella didn’t come through that much (as it usually does after baking). probably next time i shall leave out the chocolate chips.

Mmm they look real good. Your decor sugar hearts are so cute, and the colours are so special (i love the blue one)! The only sugar hearts here are not even properly heart-shaped…so annoying haha

these cookies look fab, maya! i don’t usually trust googling, not even for those famous sites like epicurious or allrecipes haha. i still prefer looking thru cookbooks or ppl’s blogs ๐ but seems like all your “googled recipes” turn out so well!

Hi
I tried this recipe a few days ago and the cookies turned out sooo well. Very crunchy! Thanks for sharing.
1 question though, can I substitute nutella with melted bitter chocolate? I like bitter choco cookies.

Hi maya
i tried one batch with melted couverture chocolate yesterday and the turned out very well too. This time, the cookies has the nice bitter of dark chocolate and less sweet. For people who like dark choco.
