white chocolate and matcha marbled loaf
July 6, 2007 at 12:25 am | Posted in Cakes, Chocolate | 7 Commentsyesterday over dinner, a friend and i were talking about cakes. we were deciding over what (cup)cake(s) to make for a birthday gathering next week. i was telling her i haven’t baked an unadorned, no-frills cake for the longest time. if it’s not cupcakes lashed with generous amounts of ganache, it’s sponge cakes filled with whipped cream and fruit, covered with a (un)healthy layer of buttercream.
i nearly forgot how a warm slice of loaf cake fresh from the oven tasted like. i decided to put the white chocolate couverture (from this wonderful chocolate company) that my cousin gave me a couple of months back to good use. i wanted something different, not the usual marble cake or pound cake. did a little bit of googling and came across this recipe. i love both white chocolate and green tea – this seemed to be a marriage made in baking heaven.
green tea in baked goods might be an acquired taste, but its flavour in this cake was subtle. the texture of the cake was sufficiently moist and it wasn’t too dense. yum. π

hey ida, my mum commented it was a bit dry on the second day. a few seconds in the microwave might do a little good. i usually have problems with pound cakes too!
