strawberry friands

October 30, 2006 at 11:47 pm | Posted in Cakes | 9 Comments

you must be thinking how crazy i am to bake the same thing for two consecutive nights. well, yesterday’s batch only yielded 8! i used up the remaining cherries and made more with strawberries.

i loaded up the ones i made for home with more strawberries, then i realised it was a mistake because the moisture made the cake too soft. the best method is to just arrange small slices on top of the batter. they came out all uniformly pretty.

alright, time for another one and then i’ll have sweet dreams.

  1. such lovely friands! and i love the plate u used. izit a corelle? lovely range.

  2. to maya: This evan must be a real foodie! Usually people comment about how good the food looks, how tempting it is….. but evan is also taken in by the plate!

to evan: Yes the plate is from the corelle range, easily available back then, but i ‘m not too sure if it is now.

  3. there you go evan. my DAD answered the question for you. i love this range too. my mum bought it early this year. 🙂

and ayah, yes it is still available now. metro still stocks it.

  4. oh hi dad! hehe. yes, i think i still see this range in metro. in fact, another similar range is the plum one? or is it that the plum one is only available on the casserole dish, not sure. anyway i love this kind of purple color, its so soothing and classy. in fact, it complements your friands, maya. corelle definitely has got classier and more trendy range of crockery nowadays. gotta keep up with the tastes of young ppl!

anyway i didnt know your dad is a supporter of your blog! i wish my parents comment something on moi blog too heh!

  5. i have the same set of plates too hehe

  6. To Evan, Maya
    and all the bakers..
Found out from maya you too are a baker,
Followed the link and wowed by the pictures.
Wonder what’ll happen if both of you are together.
Paint the kitchen red I am very sure.
The choc cupcakes were decorated beautifully
The photos did justice to your labour of love
The taste… wo, wo, must be heavenly
Eating them will never be enough!
Although I am not an ardent fan of cakes and cookies
Just looking at all the beautiful photos is a bliss
So a message to all baking lovers who are in action
Keep on baking, flood the world with your talent.

The choc cupcakes were created beautifully & lovingly

The taste… wo, wo, must be really heavenly
Eating one will definitely not enough!

  8. Maya, your dad is just too cool la! I love the poems and rhymes he comes up with… I wish, just as Evan does, that my folks leave comments on my blog too…but must first tell them what a blog is. *grin*
Anyways, these friands look great..now I’m undecided if I should try the sour cherry version or this strawberry one first! What a dilemma…

  9. To Tastegoblet especially, and
maya and others who want comments on their labour of love)

and yes Tastegoblet, i visited your blogpage too
was enthralled by the photos of the yummy spread
really if i am in your shoes
i won’t bother much how the choc fudge is prepared

well just prepare the mixture in 2 portions
and bake them in the 2 different ways
then get friends and family members into the action
by inviting them to a high tea on day

let them satiate their desire, taste your creations
and see for yourself their reactions!
No wonder you all write and respond to one other
to improve your baking skills I am very sure

so when you’re unsure of the results of the baking
remember the proof of the pudding is in the eating
when co-bakers surf your blogs, can’t you see the glint
and tongues against the lips a-smacking..hint…hint..
