agar-agar, chocolate and cupcakes
October 14, 2006 at 1:34 am | Posted in Chocolate, Cupcakes, Local Cakes | 11 Commentstoday i made agar-agar gudir. (palm sugar and coconut milk jelly)
chocolates for the boy. don’t be fooled – it’s just melted chocolate that’s re-moulded; and macadamia nut halves in them.
and another cupcake order. 🙂

Hi hi!
I’m a regular visitor to your blog… you have the most amazing ideas and beautiful bakes….
Looking at your entry abt agar-agar, i’m wondering if it’s possible to let me have the recipe for your agar-agar gudir (palm sugar and coconut milk jelly)? For my sons’s preschool’s hari raya celebration, the school has asked the parents to contribute some food and i think this will be very good for the kids to enjoy. Thanks in advance!

thank you ida, that’s too nice a comment! i’m still very amateurish in this field. 🙂
the recipe is as follows:
700ml water
180g palm sugar, roughly chopped
1 packet agar-agar powder
1 pandan leaf, knotted
300ml thick coconut milk/coconut cream
pinch of salt
1. place water, sugar, agar-agar powder and pandan leaf in a roomy pan and bring to the boil. lower heat and simmer until powder completely dissolves, abt 15-20 minutes.
2. remove pandan leaf. stir salt into the coconut milk and pour this into the jelly. return mixture to the boil then immediately remove from heat.
3. pour jelly into glass dish/moulds and leave undisturbed till set. when cool, chill in the refrigerator.
hope it turns out good for you!

May I ask where do you get those baking cups that were used to make the pink cupcakes? I can’t seem to find them but seems that many people are using them!
